Shabandagh


The Shabandagh field, located 9 km north-west of Baku, was put into operation in 1945. The field’s geological structure consists of Absheron sediments, Akchagil and a productive layer. It has an asymmetric tectonic structure. The field is in its final 4th stage of development and a large part of the oil reserves (82%) have already been extracted.

As of January 1, 2024, 96 wells have been drilled since the beginning of the development and 1.323.7 million tons of oil and 110.1 million m3 of gas were produced from the field. At present, there are 6 wells in the field’s exploitation stock and 3 of them are operating.

The field is operated by the Binagadi Oil Company in accordance with the Agreement on the Rehabilitation, Development and Production Sharing for the Block, including Binagadi, Girmaki, Chakhnaglar, Sulutepe, Masazyr, Fatmayi, Shabandagh and Sianshor Oil Fields between SOCAR, Azen Oil Company B.V. and SOCAR Oil Affiliate signed on September 29, 2004. The agreement entered into force on September 1, 2005.
