Jafarli


The Jafarli field is located in Imishli region. The fold was discovered in 1978 in the result of gravimagnetic measurements. The area of the field consists of a high plain covered with modern sediments. Exploration drilling was started in 1982. Horizons of Jafarli consists of sediments from IV to Ust Tabashir period. Hydrocarbons source rocks are from Eocene sediments. 3D seismic surveys were carried in 2007-08.

First appraisal well in a reservoir located at 4020 m was commenced on 1984 and has seen 130 t/d The well that was put on production in 1982 has produced ~130 t/d. Similar to Muradkhanly the Jafarli reservoirs are mainly consisting of marls, carbonates, and sandy shales.

Appraisal surveys are not complete yet. Average rate of 27 producer wells on Jafarli is about 170 t/d. Currently 7 out of well stock is active, 13 are idle, 1 is surveillance dedicated and 6 are abandoned. As of 01.01.2024 total 0.5MM tons of cumulative oil has been produced.

The Jafarli field is operated by A. Amirov OGPD of SOCAR’s Azneft PU.
