Hazi Aslanov

The Hazi Aslanov field is located 80-85 km north-east of Baku and 8-12 km south-east of Chilov Island, between the north-west of Chilov Island and south-east of the Mud Volcano field. It is within the Absheron-Cheleken anticline.

Tectonically, the Hazi Aslanov field is an anticlinal fold and the depth of water in the area is 30-40 m. The fold is 3 km long and 1.5 km wide. The north-eastern limb of the field is higher than the south-western one. Its closure is about 200 m. The Həzi Aslanov anticline was discovered in 1965 by the reflected waves method during seismic surveys. Then the area’s structural map was designed in the order of preparations for deep exploration drilling. In 1969, the first two wells were drilled in the Hazi Aslanov field and oil appeared during the drilling works. The field entered into operation in 1972 and 9 wells – three exploration and six exploitation wells – have been drilled there. Later, 7 wells were closed. Two others – 1st and 9th production wells in the platform No. 1 are also out of operation but have not been closed yet. During the development period, the field produced 755,000 tons of oil and 77,000 m3 of associated gas.

The Hazi Aslanov field is on the balance sheet of the 28 May OGPD of SOCAR’s Azneft PU, but the field is out of operation now.
