The Fatmayi field consists of two independent development areas - Sianshor and Mahammadli - and is located north-east of Baku in the villages of Fatmayi, Mahammadli, Digah and Novkhani. Lake Sianshor and Gullutepe mud volcano are located in the area. Tectonically, the arch of the Fatmayi field has a washed brachioanticline structure. It is 9 km long and 1.5-2.0 km wide.
The Sianshor area of the field is located 13 km north of Baku. The Sianshor field, which has a tectonic monoclinic structure, has been developed since 1973 and 106 wells have been drilled in the area so far. As of the 1st of January 2024, 645.8 thousand tons of oil and 37.4 million m3 of gas were extracted therefrom. At present, 35 out of 44 wells in the production are operational.
The Mahammadli area is a small part of north-eastern wing of the Fatmayi fold. A well drilled in 1949 in the area was suspended due to technical causes. A tectonically monoclinal field has been developed since 1978, and a total of 50 wells had been drilled there until the 1st of January 2024 with a total output of 262,000 tons of oil and 6.7 million cubic metres of gas. There are 36 wells in the field’s exploitation stock and 33 of them are operational.
The field is operated by Binagadi Oil Operating Company in accordance with the Agreement signed on the 29th of September 2004 between SOCAR, Azen Oil Company B.V. and SOCAR Oil Affiliate on Rehabilitation, Development and Production Sharing of the Block including Binagadi, Girmaki, Sulutepe, Chakhnaglar, Masazir, Fatmayi, Shabandagh and Sianshor oil fields, which entered into force on the 1st of September 2005.
