Dashgil-Deleniz


The Dashgil-Deleniz oil field is located 60 km south-west of Baku, 3-4 km north of Alat railway station, near the Pirsaat River, 10 km south of Gobustan settlement, on the coast of the Caspian Sea. Administratively, the field covered a rise with the same name belongs to the Garadagh region of Baku.

The Dashgil fold, which is part of the Gobustan tectonic zone, has a brachyanticline structure. It is 7.5 km long and 2.5-3 km wide. Dashgil mud volcano also caused a significant complication of the folds. In 1949-1950, structural mapping was carried out in the western part of the field, and in 1950, exploration wells were drilled in the structure. The Dashgil oil field has been operating since 1955. The main production was observed in 1964-1969. As of the 1st of January 2023, 50 wells have been drilled on the field, which produced over 352,3 tons of oil and 35,2 million m3 of gas. The wells were drilled mainly in productive layers.

The average daily oil production of the Dashgil-Deleniz field are 2 tons.

The field was operated by the Gobustan Operating Company from 1998 to 2022. The exploration, development and production sharing agreement for three blocks, including Shikhzegirli, Sheytanud, Burgut, Donguzdug, Nardaran, Ilkhychy, Western Hajivali, Sundi, Eastern Hajivali, Turagay, Kanizadag, Western Duvanny, Duvanny, Solakhay and Dashgil was terminated on the 20th of April 2022.

The structure is in the balance of the Nariman Narimanov OGPD of SOCAR’s Azneft PU.
