07/11/2025

Representatives of SOCAR Midstream Gas Operations and South Caucasus Pipeline organized a tree-planting campaign within the framework of the “Urban Forests: More Than Trees” project, with support from the Binagadi District Executive Authority.

The event, held on the occasion of Victory Day and the fifth anniversary of the Patriotic War, took place near the Khocasan residential complex in Binagadi district. The complex, built in 2021 for martyrs’ families, war veterans, January 20 victims, and other socially vulnerable groups, currently houses 2,450 residents.

SOCAR Vice Presidents Afghan Isayev and Babek Huseynov, Head of Binagadi District Executive Authority Elkhan Allahverdiyev, Member of Milli Majlis Sabina Khasayeva, CEO of SOCAR Midstream Gas Operations Polad Rustamov, representatives of the relevant institutions, SCP partner companies, local administrations, enterprises, organizations, and district residents attended the ceremony.

Polad Rustamov, Deputy Head of Binagadi District Executive Authority Sevinc Suleymanova, Member of Milli Majlis Sabina Khasayeva, Chairperson of Khocasan Municipality Nigar Mammadova, and Parvana Samedova, mother of Patriotic War martyr Nicat Samedov, delivered speeches.

The speakers highlighted the brilliant Victory achieved by the Azerbaijani army five years ago in the Patriotic War under the wise leadership of President Ilham Aliyev, Victorious Commander-in-Chief, describing it as one of the most glorious pages in Azerbaijan’s centuries-old history. They also emphasized the importance of preserving the country’s ecological balance and the significance of this project.

The project aims to create a 1.5-hectare green zone near the Khocasan residential complex, planting 6,600 climate-resistant trees (olive, plane, Eldar pine, and acacia), constructing pedestrian pathways, lighting systems, recreation and play areas for children and adults, and other necessary infrastructure.

The first similar initiative under the “Urban Forests: More Than Trees” project took place in 2024 in the Haji Zeynalabdin Taghiyev neighborhood of Sumgayit city.
