Agreement on the Rehabilitation, Development, and Production Sharing of a Block that Includes the Binegedi, Girmaki, Chakhnaglar, Sulutepe, Masazir, Phatmai, Shabandagh, and Sianshor Fields in the Azerbaijan Republic.

The Binegedi petroleum province is located in the northwest part of the Absheron Peninsula. This province contains the Binegedi, Girmeki, Chakhnaglar, Sulutepe, Masazir, Phatmai, (Sianshor and Mehemmedli areas) oil and gas fields, and the Novkhany, Digah, Saray, and other prospect areas. SOCAR and AzEn Oil signed a joint operating agreement on September 29, 2004. The area covered by the agreement is 43.5 km2 in size.


The Binegedi oilfield has been producing since 1896. The field is located 9 km north of Baku. Cumulative oil production as of January 1, 2011 was 32.6 million tons.

The Sulutepe oilfield was commissioned in 1920. It is located 9 km NW of Baku. As of January 1, 2011, its cumulative oil production was 6.8 million tons.

The Chakhnaglar oilfield was commissioned in 1932. It is located 9 km NW of Baku. As of January 1, 2011 its cumulative oil production was 7.9 million tons.

The Girmaki Oilfield was commissioned in 1944. It is located 9 km N of Baku. As of January 1, 2011, its cumulative oil production was 1.1 million tons.

The Shabandagh oilfield was commissioned in 1908. It is located 9 km NW of Baku. Cumulative oil production as of January 1, 2011 was 1.3 million tons.

The Mehemmedli area was commissioned in 1973. It is located 13 km N of Baku. Cumulative oil production as of January 1, 2011 was 0.72 million tons.

The Masazir oilfield was commissioned in 1980. It is located 20 km N of Baku. Cumulative oil production as of January 1, 2011 was 0.212 million tons.
