Geophysics and Geology
Department (GGD) has been formed on December 23, 2005
due to restructuring of former Geophysics and
Engineering Geology Production Association of State Oil
Company of Azerbaijan Republic. Geophysics and Geology
Department provides a broad range of geophysical
services (seismic, gravity, magnetic and electric
surveys) both in the Azerbaijan and abroad. GGD’s
activities also cover studies of deep geologic setting
of the earth crust, local structures for further
exploratory drilling, studies of wells section by use of
geophysical techniques, perforation, geophysical control
over field development, geophysical engineering and
topography survey in hydrocarbon bearing areas.
Geophysics & Geology Department consists of five
subsidiaries: Petroleum Geophysics Department,
Exploration Geophysics Department, Integrated Geological
Exploration and Topography Department, Geophysical
Research Institute and Geophysical Design Office.
SOCAR’s Geophysics and Geology Department has held a
competition entitled “90 minutes- 90 questions- 90
answers”, the last in a series of contests devoted
